2024 Nissan Pathfinder Preview, Specs, Hybrid, Release Date

Redesigned a year ago, Nissan’s mid-size SUV still seems quite fresh. It looks attractive, while the recent overhaul also brought a much nicer cabin and more features, which all make it more desirable than before. However, it looks like the Japanese manufacturer plans some more novelties for the near future. According to some reports, a hybrid version has been in the works and it looks like it could arrive already in by the end of this year, as the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder. The officials are still quiet, so take the following paragraphs with reserve.

While details about the new powertrain option are still unavailable, we are pretty sure that the overall design is about to remain the same. We expect to see a familiar layout, with the same qualities and features. This SUV has a lot of good things to offer, starting from a well-designed and spacious cabin, a long list of standard features and a comfortable ride.

Despite the possible powertrain updates, we don’t believe that the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder could arrive much earlier than usual.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Could Get Hybrid Powertrain

As we’ve just mentioned, some sources speculate about a hybrid version of the new SUV. At this point, the officials are still quiet, so we can only speculate. One of the possible scenarios is to see the implementation of Nissan’s latest ePower technology, which works in a little bit different way compared to most self-charging hybrids. In this case, the wheels are powered by electric motors, while the gasoline engine works as a generator. The other possibility is to see a plug-in hybrid setup, though it’s still early for predictions.

On the other hand, standard models will continue in a familiar way, with the same old 3.5-liter V6 engine. That unit puts out around 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, which is enough for decent driving dynamics. Also, there is a new 9-speed automatic transmission, which is smooth and does a pretty nice job. In the Rock Creek version, this engine offers a little bit more power, around 295 horses and 270 pound-feet of torque. The average fuel economy goes up to 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, which is typical for the segment.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Design

Other than the new hybrid powertrain, we don’t believe that the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder could bring more important changes. The overall design should remain the same, which means that you may count on the same styling, which follows the brand’s contemporary design language, with a lot of similarities to models like Rogue and Rogue Sport. The Pathfinder looks muscular but elegant at the same time.

In terms of mechanics the Pathfinder rides on an updated version of the familiar D platform. It offers a smooth and comfortable ride and while there isn’t much athleticism, the steering feels way better compared to the previous generation. Also, there is the Rock Creek version with various off-road upgrades, such as upgraded suspension, all-terrain tires, tuned AWD system etc.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, this is one of the nicest models in the class. The dashboard looks very elegant, while there is also a lot of attention to detail. Most of the cabin is wrapped with quality materials and even the base versions look pretty attractive.

Besides good build quality, this cabin also offers a lot of space. The front seats are among the best in the class, with plenty of room and great support. The second row also offers plenty of space, while the third row, although tighter, also offers a decent level of functionality. The cargo area offers around 16.6 cubic feet behind the third row, 45 cubic feet behind the second row and 80.5 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. Those are typical ratings for the segment.

Features

The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder could bring minor updates in this aspect but most things will certainly remain the same. Therefore, we expect to see base models equipped with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice recognition, satellite radio, Bluetooth, four USB ports, a six-speaker audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, push-button start and proximity keyless entry.

Among options, we expect to find goodies like a bigger 9-inch touch screen, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, two additional USB ports, a 13-speaker Bose audio system, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, remote start, a universal garage door opener, a 120-volt household-style power outlet, and a panoramic sunroof.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year. The current modest starts at around 37.000 dollars and we expect no bigger changes for the next year. On the other hand, the hybrid version would probably cost a little bit more. Key competitors are models like Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, Honda Pilot etc.
