It’s been a while since Lexus announced the arrival of the brand-new LQ model and looks like this crossover will finally arrive by the end of this year. With this new flagship model, Lexus wants to go even more upscale and offer the level of luxury and style we haven’t seen from this brand yet. The aesthetical aspect of the vehicle definitely looks most interesting at this point but we are pretty sure this won’t be the only quality of the 2023 Lexus LQ.
The new crossover is about to offer much more and, of course, the powertrain lineup is one of the things that come to mind. This model will offer both hybrid and classic gasoline engine options, while there is also a big chance for full electrification at some point. Of course, the high-end interior is another thing we expect to see, but that’s always been Lexus’s thing.
At this point, the officials are still quiet about the launch date but we presume the new model will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, or maybe in early 2023.
2023 Lexus LQ Design
The most intriguing aspect of the 2023 Lexus LQ at this point is the styling. Although we haven’t seen the prototype yet, we know what to expect from the new flagship crossover. Of course, we are talking about the styling that closely resembles the LF-1 Limitless concept, which was presented a few years ago. We expect that the production model could bring the same level of excitement and for that, it will have to use most of the concept’s design solutions. The front end won’t bring bigger surprises, as we count on the latest iteration of the brand’s well-known spindle grille. The excitement should start with the sleek profile and long hood, in a combination with a sloping roof and couple-like layout.
On the other hand, we don’t believe that the mechanical aspect of the vehicle could bring some significant surprises. The new 2023 Lexus LQ will use the company’s latest technology, based on the TNGA platform but as we are talking about the future flagship model, we may also expect to see some super-exclusive things, such as super-refined air suspension etc.
On the other hand, the interior probably won’t look much like the LF-1 concept, which came with a pretty extreme, futuristic design. Instead, we expect that the Japanese manufacturer will rather stick to the proven recipe. In other words, we count on Lexus’ typical design approach, which includes mostly conservative design solutions, where the focus is on materials and superior build quality. Of course, we count on a full load of new tech features as well, including a new infotainment system that replaces the complicated touchpad unit that characterizes current Lexus models.
Of course, we expect nothing but superior comfort from this model. Although with full-size proportions, the 2023 Lexus LQ will probably feature just two rows of seats (though we can’t exclude the possibility to see a three-row model entirely), due to the sloping rood and couple-like layout. Naturally, we count on excellent seats and plenty of room, while the second row should be offered with either captain’s chairs or a bench.
2023 Lexus LQ Powertrain
This aspect could bring a lot of interesting things to the table. At this point, we are pretty sure that the hybrid version will be at the top of the offer. We presume that the 2023 Lexus LQ could use the same system as the new Tundra, which features a max output of 437 horsepower and 589 pound-feet of torque. Of course, this model would probably come with a little bit more power. The system comes in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
On the other hand, base models will probably be offered with a gasoline engine. We count on the same V6 that powers the new LX, which puts out 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. This engine also comes in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Finally, there is a chance to see an all-electric version some day. This model definitely won’t be ready for the initial launch, but we presume it could arrive by 2025. At this point, it is still early for details regarding power, battery, range and similar things.
2023 Lexus LQ Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Lexus LQ will hit the market in the last quarter of this year, or maybe in the first half of 2023. The base price should go around 80.000 dollars, while the key competitors will be models like Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7 etc.
