2024 BMW X3 Redesign: Changes, Specs, Hybrid

Although the current generation was updated last year, the Bavarian carmaker is already working on novelties for one of its most popular models. After the recent redesign of the arch-rival, the Mercedes-Benz GLC, everyone is waiting for BMW’s response and it looks like it will come already in the next year, when we expect to see the fourth generation of the Bavarian compact crossover. The new model will come as the 2024 BMW X3 and we expect to see various improvements.

However, we don’t expect to see any radical changes. Instead, we count on an evolutionary design approach, which will continue to develop the current design. This refers to all aspects of the vehicles but despite the that most changes will be subtle, the improvements should be significant if the company wants to retain the position of one of the class leaders.

The all-new 2024 BMW X3 should arrive sometime in the second half of the next year.

2024 BMW X3 Design

The 2024 BMW X3 will receive a complete redesign, so we count on novelties in various aspects. So, one of the first things that come to mind is the platform. From what we know so far, the new generation will ride on an updated version of the current CLAR architecture and we presume it will bring improvements in various aspects. Some of the things that come to mind are weight reduction, as well as a new suspension setup, which should improve the ride quality even more, even though the current generation is already pretty impressive in this aspect.

Of course, we also count on the new styling. The test mule has been spotted on German roads and despite the heavy camouflage, it shows some styling bits. From what we can see, the changes will be mostly evolutionary. Most potential buyers may feel relieved because the new grille won’t be as huge as the one in the 4 Series. Instead, it will look slightly larger and bolder compared to the current one. We could say it would be designed in a similar manner as the one in the X1 model.

The overall size probably won’t change much, while we also expect the overall shape to remain the same. We count on similar proportions, which also means that the amount of interior space should remain pretty similar, which is definitely a good thing to hear.

Interior

As we’ve just mentioned, the next-generation 2024 BMW X3 should keep pretty much the same size as the current model. Therefore, we expect to see a similar amount of passenger and cargo space in the new model. That’s a great thing to hear, considering that the current generation already features one of the most spacious cabins in the class. It offers a couple of very spacious rows of seats, which accommodate adults with ease. Also, you may count on one of the largest cargo areas in the class.

On the other hand, the cabin aesthetics will be completely new. You may count on a more modern design, highlighted by massive screens and other tech goodies. Typically for BMW, the materials and build, quality should be at a pretty high level, while we also expect the new model to be pretty generous in terms of standard and available equipment.

2024 BMW X3 Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, we presume that the focus will be on electrification, even though most of the current engines are about to carry one. Still, all of them should come paired with a mild-hybrid system, which would provide extra power and torque, and also positively affect fuel economy. So, base models will continue with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which will probably feature slightly more power than the current 248-hp version. The same goes for the inline-six engine, which currently puts out around 382 horsepower.

Finally, there is the M model, which comes with all kinds of upgrades, including a twin-turbo inline-six engine, which currently puts out 473 horsepower in standard and 503 horsepower in the M Competition version.

BMW X3 Hybrid

The plug-in hybrid powertrain was discontinued recently in North America but that doesn’t mean that the Bavarian carmaker has given up on such a powertrain. No, it currently works on the new system, which would be based on a turbo-four engine. The details are still unavailable, but we are pretty sure that such a powertrain will be offered in all markets, including North America.

2024 BMW X3 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 BMW X3 will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2023, with a starting price of around 50.000 dollars. Of course, the competition will remain the same, in the form of models like Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 etc.
