There aren’t many premium SUVs left on the market, especially not in such a combination that offers not just a luxury but strong off-road performance as well. The LX is one of them and if we can trust the latest reports, it could become even better in the next year. Namely, the 2024 Lexus LX is expected to bring some novelties. Even though it’s still early for a major refresh, the next year’s model is about to bring important updates and upgrades. It looks like the hybrid version is finally about to come, while reports also suggest a new off-road variant of the SUV.
These updates will certainly make the SUV more appealing but we don’t expect to see significant changes in terms of the overall design. Instead, the overall layout will remain the same and the next year’s LX will continue with familiar strong points, such as a capable powertrain, luxurious cabin, lots of standard equipment etc.
Considering the possible updates, the 2024 Lexus LX might arrive a little bit earlier than usual, though still within the second half of the year.
2024 Lexus LX Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Lexus LX might bring a couple of updates, but the overall design is about to remain the same. The current generation was launched last year and it brought significant improvements over the previous model. It now rides on the new TNGA-F architecture and features more attractive styling. Still, we are still waiting for a more capable off-road variant of the SUV and it looks like that could finally happen with the next year’s model.
Allegedly, the company is preparing a new off-road package, which will bring several important upgrades, starting from the off-road suspension, which will be adjustable and able to increase the model’s ground clearance. Furthermore, this version would come with three locking differentials, upgraded tires and many other things.
Interior
On the other hand, we don’t expect to see bigger updates on the inside. Instead, the interior design should remain the same, with a familiar layout that offers a lot of great things, starting from excellent build quality. The materials are also very nice and everything looks pretty luxurious. At the same time, the LX feels solid and durable, which works great in a combination with numerous tech and convenience features.
However, not all things are great about this SUV. The 2024 Lexus LX will continue with a relatively short wheelbase, which has a negative impact on the third-row space and cargo area, which is where this model lags behind key competitors, such as Jeep Grand Wagoneer or Mercedes-Benz GLS. On the other hand, the front seats are some of the best in the class, while the second row is also very spacious and very comfortable.

We don’t believe that the 2024 Lexus LX could change drastically in this aspect. Simply, the current model already comes fully loaded in its most basic variants, so there aren’t many upgrades available. For example, the list of standard equipment includes goodies like 12.3-inch and 7-inch touch screens, 8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-speaker premium stereo, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, wireless device charging, navigation, Bluetooth, four USB ports, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener and a moonroof.
Among upgrades, you can find goodies like a 25-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound stereo, a rear-seat entertainment system with two 11.4-inch displays, two additional USB ports, ambient interior lighting and a console cooler.
When it comes to safety, all models come with a surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, traffic sign recognition and many more.
2024 Lexus LX Engines
The biggest novelty is expected under the hood, where the 2024 Lexus LX should finally come with a hybrid powertrain on offer. That model would use a familiar system, based on a 3.4-liter turbo V6. However, we would expect to see a little bit more power compared to the Tundra and Sequoia. We presume that the max output could be rated at around 450 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque.
On the other hand, base models would continue with a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6, which puts out 409 horsepower. That engine comes coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission and offers pretty good overall performance, including a max towing capacity that goes up to 8.000 pounds.
